CBS Midterm Election Package
2022
Art Direction, 3D Build, Motion graphics and Vizrt 5.0 Augmented Graphics Build.
I served as Art Director and Vizrt Artist for CBS's Midterm Election package at Girraphic, overseeing the project from concept to execution. My role involved ensuring visual cohesion and elevating the design at every stage, from the augmented graphics to the virtual studio backgrounds.
On the technical side, I built the augmented graphics package in Vizrt 5.0, which was a groundbreaking achievement at the time. This project marked one of the first uses of Vizrt 5.0 for an election package, and I had to learn and master the software independently to bring the vision to life. The package was fully data-driven and integrated with the studio’s systems, showcasing both technical innovation and creative excellence.

The CBS Anamorphic Billboard
Times Square, NY
In addition to the traditional augmented graphics in the studio, we extended the experience to the ceiling of the CBS building in Times Square, New York. The concept I proposed was to create an anamorphic effect using augmented graphics, making it look like the election results were inside a virtual room that blended perfectly with the buildings around it. This virtual room was visible through a "window" on the main video wall behind the presenters, connecting the studio with the outdoor billboard.
The graphics ran throughout the day, updated in real time with live data, and stayed up until the evening to show the final results.

Designing a Virtual Background for the news studio set:
I contributed to the initial exploration of the virtual background for CBS's election main studio. This background was projected across multiple video walls in the studio and tracked to the cameras in real time, creating a dynamic sense of depth as both the camera and the 3D environment moved together.
For the design, I used the Parliament as inspiration, creating a bright and elevated styled room. The white and luminous backdrop ensured that any graphics placed in front remained legible and contrasted enough to stand out without competing with the background.

Designing Augmented Graphics for the studio walls
I developed a series of data-driven augmented graphics for the studio, designed to display real-time election results on the "walls" and other key areas. The space in front of the desk was also transformed into a dynamic display, showcasing a variety of graphics throughout the day to keep the broadcast visually engaging and informative.
